Volunteer Opportunities

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors meet at least once a month and oversee the business, financial & legal responsibilities of the Association. The Board is responsible for appointing members to the Committee of Architecture and other ad hoc committees. The Board approves the annual budget, contracts for office rental, insurance, bookkeeper, financial review by CPA, meeting expenses and advertising. The Board supervises the operations of the Executive Director and Office Assistant. The Board ensures the Association’s compliance with federal, state & local regulations. The NPOA Board of Directors are all volunteers. They are elected by the Plat Delegates at the Annual General Meeting held in March. Once members are elected to the Board, the Board meets to decide and appoint which Board members will serve as officers such as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary. They also appoint the Chair of the Committee of Architecture.

Some people feel that board members must be experts or have special training. This is not true, and in fact a volunteer board is one of the best places to acquire the training to become expert in managing organizations. So, we are not looking for experts as much as we are looking for those people who want to become involved and increase their skills while at the same time help keep Fountain Hills neighborhoods beautiful.

The Nominating Committee is now looking for any members who are interested in serving on the Board for the coming year. Your name would be put on the ballot at the Annual General Meeting. If elected you would become a member of the Board.
The qualifications for Board are:

  1. Be 21 years of age or older
  2. Currently own property in and reside full-time in an NPOA member plat
  3. Have lived in an NPOA member plat for at least 6 months
  4. Be a member in good standing

Membership in good standing means that you are in compliance with conditions of the Declaration of Reservations & are not involved in any litigation with the Association.

Committee of Architecture

Do you want to keep Fountain Hills neighborhoods beautiful?

The NPOA is looking for volunteers to serve on the Committee of Architecture. The Committee currently meets once a week on Tuesday mornings. Meetings usually last about an hour.

The Committee reviews architectural plans for new homes, additions, demolitions, roofing, fencing & masonry walls, pools & spas, re-paints and many more exterior changes. The Committee either approves or disapproves the plans, sometimes suggesting changes to bring the plans into alignment with existing development & neighborhood aesthetics. The Committee is also responsible for assessing fines for non-compliance with development guidelines.

You will be working with a group of other dedicated volunteers who enjoy what they do and working with others. No special qualifications are required, just a willingness to work with others to help keep Fountain Hills neighborhoods beautiful.

If you are interested, contact our office at 480-837-5317 or info@npoafh.org. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have. You can find out more about the NPOA by exploring our web site.
